SP Flash TWRP3.0.0 for Redmi Note 3

Hello MIUI-ers...

Every now and then, I am doing testing towards going around the locked bootloader. This time using SP Flash Tool to flash TWRP for Redmi Note 3 as an alternative to flash TWRP recovery on a unlocked bootloader and ultimately rooting with SuperSU.

VERSION:

Redmi Note 3 (MediaTek)

LIMITATION:

Unlocked bootloader.

PRE-REQUISITE:
DOWNLOAD:

MediaTek USB VCOM drivers NOTE: WINDOWS 10 (32 & 64 bits) driver
SP Flash Tool
TWRP300_RN3_SPFlash©feds64
UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65

ESSENTIALS:

Go to About phone > tap MIUI version at least 7 times to activate the Developer options. Go to Additional settings > Developer options > USB debugging > Enable it.
Fully charged your device
USB DATA cable that came with your device.
Working USB port on your computer
Switch off your device

STEP ONE:
After all the three zipped files are downloaded, leaving UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65.zip alone, unzipped them accordingly, then start installing the MediaTek USB VCOM dirver or the Windows 10 driver whichever is applicable. Next, move the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65.zip to the Download folder on your phone for easy access, as shown below:-

STEP TWO:
After you unzipped the SP Flash Tool, launch the "Flash.exe" as shown below:-

STEP THREE:

Next click on the "Download Agent" and locate "DA_SWSEC.bin" from the unzipped SP Flash Tool folder earlier and click Open, as shown below:-

STEP FOUR:
Next click on the "Scatter-loading" button and locate the "MT6795_Android_scatter" from the unzipped "TWRP300_RN3_SPFlash©feds64" folder earlier and click Open, as shown below:-

STEP FIVE:
Since we are flashing the TWRP recovery, make sure the "recovery" box is ticked and unticked the "preloader" box, as shown below:-

STEP SIX:
Connect the other end of your USB DATA cable to the computer.

Now click the "Download" button.

DEVICE: (Still in Off-state mode) Immediately after clicking "Download" button, PRESS and HOLD the Vol (-) Down button, and connect the other end of the USB DATA cable to your device. Release the button after you see the big Checkmark which should be less than 10 seconds, as shown below:-

Unplug the USB DATA cable from your device.

STEP SEVEN:
Next what you need to do, to boot to the "TWRP 3.0.0 Recovery", you need to PRESS & HOLD the Vol Up + Power key simultaneously, and release when the Mi logo appear. Wait for a couple of second until the TWRP main menu appear, then tick "Only mount system read-only" as shown below:-

STEP EIGHT:
Next, flash UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65, as shown below:-

After that is done, Reboot System. Now, we done flashing TWRP recovery using SP Flash Tool and rooting using UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65.

SP Flash TWRP for Redmi Note 3

Every now and then, I am doing testing towards going around the locked bootloader. This time using SP Flash Tool to flash TWRP for Redmi Note 3 which in theory works for locked bootloader, BUT, I HAVE NOT MADE THE TEST ON LOCKED BOOTLOADER PERSONALLY. So for the time being, the limitation would still be in an UNLOCKED environment.

LIMITATION:

Unlocked bootloader.

PRE-REQUISITE:

DOWNLOAD:

ESSENTIALS:

Go to About phone > tap MIUI version at least 7 times to activate the Developer options. Go to Additional settings > Developer options > USB debugging > Enable it.
Fully charged your device
USB DATA cable that came with your device.
Working USB port on your computer
Switch off your device

STEP TWO:

After you unzipped the SP Flash Tool, launch the "Flash.exe" as shown below:-

STEP THREE:

Flash GOOGLE APPs on ROOTED Redmi Note 3 via Flashify on Mobile

New Year 2016 Featured Tutorial

This a final part of my New Year Featured Tutorial 2/2, the first 1/2, was on ROOTing and installation of TWRP custom recovery via FLASHIFY app.

SCENARIO: I am ROOTED with SuperSU and TWRP recovery installed and flashed respectively. But WITHOUT a GOOGLE PLAY STORE. What I had to do is run to my rescue with my own blog myandroidous.blogspot.com which is like a treasure chest with all the know-hows and APP APKs at my expense, as shown below:-

This is what I had, to work with, as shown below:-

DOWNLOAD:

Flashify 1.9.2.apk

Locate and install Flashify app, as shown below:-

Next launch:-

Open GApps package

Choose ARM64/Android 5.0/and choose which you prefer (I picked "Micro") and download.

After the download is done, launch Flashify and flashed the zip file, as shown below:-

Sign-in to your Google Account accordingly and check the version installed, as shown below:-

Next, launch Mi Store app and disable, as shown below:-

After installation, I personally thought my Google Play Store is flawless without compatibility issues, errors, and it got integrated well with the system. Furthermore, when you a search for any apps on Google Chrome you will be directed right to Google Play Store rather than to Mi Store, as shown below:-

Alright, I done with installing all the Google Apps that I needed, as shown below:-

New Year 2016 Featured Tutorial

This morning, while I was trying a few stuffs, I accidentally press Full Unroot in SuperSu. I was horrified, eventhough I had root access from the Dev Rom, and thereafter, my superuser access has vanished...

What I did was go to MIUI Forum to access my tutorial to flash using Hands-on flashing Stock ROM using SP Flash Tool on Redmi Note 3 to the Stable v7.0.19.0 and thereafter update manually thru updater to Dev v5.12.31. And on top when I wanna request for a root access, I was only granted after I did UNLOCKING YOUR BOOTLOADER, ROOTED for REDMI NOTE 3 and successfully got thru for the third time. Only then it automatically downloaded and flashed the hennessy-5.12.31-5.12.31.root ROM, on my lappie, before I could leave for breakfast.

This how it goes, as shown below:-

And the worst part is that I eager to get going with setting up, and having my eggs benedict and enjoying while it last, at a breakfast joint not at the convenience of my office or my home, so I had to do all these while on mobility and had the purple browser to connect me beyond and none other.

MISSION: Install SuperSU & update Binaries, Install Flashify, Flash TWRP and Ultimately Install Google Apps.

I DOWNLOADED:

SuperSU 2.46.apk

Flashify 1.9.2.apk

twrp_feds64.img

Root Checker Basic 5.5.3

REMINDER: Enable, 3^rd party apk installation Installing APK file on your Redmi Note 2/Prime for noobies

I installed and granted root access to SuperSU 2.46 and update its binaries too, as shown below:-

Installed Flashify and flashed recovery twrp_feds64.img as shown below:-

Install and launch Root Checker app, to verify the Root is done properly, as shown below:-

And now, I have successfully flashed TWRP recovery to my Redmi Note 3, and I "Only mount system read-me" cos I do not want to lose my OTA updates, as shown below:-

Next, I need my Google Play Store... which you can grab hold at the thread below:-
