Google Play Store for Redmi Note 3/Pro

Redmi Note 3 is a great phone, when we could install all the apps we wanted and getting rid of the one we do not use. Since Redmi Note 3 is launched in mainland China, and its their regulation not to included Google Play Store but only offering Mi Store or other apps which we are not familiar with.

As my unit came with a vendor installed MIUI 7.1 Stable 7.1.1.1 (LHNCNCJ) ROM, which did come with Google Play Store but the biggest problem was the bloatware, malware and adsware, which is annoying and resource consuming. I moved on to "Hands-on flashing Stock ROM using SP Flash Tool on Redmi Note 3" to the Official MIUI 7 Stable ROM V7.0.22.0.LHNCNCJ. This does not come with a Google Play Store, so here we are going to install one.

FROM YOUR DEVICE:
Just SCAN using your QR scanner.

FROM YOUR PC/COMPUTER:

1. Click the flashing Google Installer Icon to download the “Google Installer_2.0”.

2. Unzipped and transfer the Google Installer, latest Google Play Store and Google Play Services to the internal memory of your Redmi Note 3 via USB connection.

3. Just follow thru’ the sequence like the illustrations below. Goto File Explorer > APKs > "Google Installer_2.0.apk”

4. Launch the Google Installer icon. Once it open you will see the blue circle and click Blue Circle to start the installation and follow the sequence as shown below:-

Note: Just click OK and Install, do not click launch at anytime during the installation of the apps.

5. Towards the end of the installation, just follow the illustration to click the RED CIRCLE. and accept the terms, click Allow Google to read SMS, finally go thru the setup of Google sign-in, as follows:-

6. As you can see your phone is busy syncing the contact and other Google Apps, as shown below:-

7. Next we are going to install the latest apk for Google Play Store and Google Play Services, to avoid any compatibility error and sluggishness. To install just go to your Explorer > APKs and install both of the APKs, as shown below:-

8. After you are all done with the installation, reboot your device. After it is back on, you could now check Google > Settings > scroll up, that it is installed with a Build version 6.2.10.A-all [0] 2590673, as shown below:-

These are the apps or bloatware, that I gotten rid of, to regain some storage space, as shown below:-

Getting Google Play store for Redmi Note 3 for newbies

Redmi Note 3 is a great phone, when we could install all the apps we wanted and getting rid of the one we do not use. It has been almost a month since the launching of Redmi Note 3 in mainland China, and early bird like myself have to deal with how to install Google Play Store rather then using Mi Store or others which we are not familiar with.

As my unit came with a vendor installed MIUI 7.1 Stable 7.1.1.1 (LHNCNCJ) ROM, which did come with Google Play Store but the biggest problem was the bloatware, malware and adsware, which is annoying and resource consuming. I moved on to "Hands-on flashing Stock ROM using SP Flash Tool on Redmi Note 3" to the Official MIUI 7 Stable ROM V7.0.16.0.LHN CNCJ.This does not come with a Google Play Store, so here we are going to install one.

Ultimately, I updated it, from 7.0.16.0.LHNCNCJ To V7.0.19.0.LHNCNCJ thru' OTA. For, those who might be interested to get the V7.1.8.0.LHNCNCK, zip file, CLICK the image below:-

FROM YOUR PC/COMPUTER:

1. Click the Google Installer Icon to download the “Google Installer”.

1a. Click the flashing Google Installer Icon to download the latest “Google Installer_2.0”.

2. Transfer the Google Installer to the internal memory of your Redmi Note 3 via USB connection.

3. Just follow thru’ the sequence like the above illustration. Goto File Explorer > APKs > Google “Installer.apk”.

4. Click Google Installer icon. That will bring you in the Installer. If you do get the “Error Message” like in the illustration, try a few times and will show a list of Google Apps available to download.

5. Install the “Google Play” and follow thru’ as in the above image. It will then install, Google Service Framework, Google Account Manager and other Google apps. I install most of the apps like Google Maps, Google Chrome browser and of course the Google Contacts Sync to be able to sync all your contacts or else it will not synchronize automatically. Reboot your phone.

6. Now your Redmi Note 3 is now all set with all the Google apps and services. If you do face "device incompatibility" error message with the Google Play Store, be sure to reboot and give it some time to update the core services, depending on your speed of your data/wifi connection and it should be fine, afterward.

Google Apps package for Redmi Note 2/Prime for intermediate

Ever since, I got my Redmi Note 3 which comes installed witha China ROM, hence there is no Google Play Store pre-installed. I decided to install Open GApps instead of Google Installer.apk which kinda of outdated.

About Open GApps:-

Open GApps is a Google Apps package developed Open GApps Team, which allow for the automated creation of new up-to-date packages automatically. They offer several variations from a Google Aroma Package (with original Google Nexus file system structure) to Pico (minimum apps with Google Play functionality) to suit your requirement.

Prerequisites:-

Device is ROOTED. No root access, just read my thread to flash TWRP and get rooted, as such:-

Flash SuperSU using TWRP recovery and Root Redmi Note2/Prime

Preferably, use TWRP recovery which is an alternative to CWM to do installation of the GApps, rather than the latter which is not as friendly to get a perfect result.

Download Open GApps on your device and click the link below:-

Open GApps

Then, Choose Platform: ARM64, Android: 5.0, Variant: Choose the package you need. I personally chose aroma, because I could choose which Google app I want to install from the installation menu, as shown below:-

Option One:

Next switch off your device, then press the volume up button and power button simultaneously into the TWRP recovery mode.

Choose, Install > Select Zip File/sdcard/Download/open_gapps-arm64-5.0-aroma-20151208.zip.


After a few minute it will be installed accordingly, go back to the TWRP main menu and choose Wipe/Advanced Wipe/ choose Wipe, Dalvik cache & cache. Finally, Reboot to System.

Now, you have successfully installed the Google Apps and functionality.

Option Two: (with Flashify app installed, it is just a breeze to flash Open GApps) To know more, click the link:-

Flash, Recovery, Backup & Restore Root Redmi Note 2/Prime with Flashify

Open Flashify app, goto Flash/Zip file/choose a file/File explorer/Internal storage/Download/open_gapps-arm64-5.0-aroma-20151208.zip, as shown below:-

In the pop-up menu, tick TWRP or Philz option, then tick, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik & Wipe Data and click "YUP!", as shown below:-

TWRP recovery will flash it accordingly, as you could actually see the process of flashing, and you got an option to save log and continue with the reboot. After it boots up again, it will finish off with installation.


Now, you have successfully installed the Google Apps and functionality.
